Tour Details

Day 01: Arrive Delhi

Pick up from the airport by our representative and check-in to hotel. Introductions and briefing followed by lunch. Visit to Museum - an introduction to India's history and crafts.

Optional: Lecture on the history of Delhi and its monuments before dinner.

Day 02: Delhi

Visit to pre-Mughal monuments - Qutab Minar* and Humayun's Tomb*. Evening shopping or exploring the city on ones own.

Day 03: Delhi/Agra

Half day visit to Old Delhi - the walled city of the Mughal Emperor Shahjahan, Red Fort and Juma Masjid. Leave for Agra after lunch by road.

Day 04: Agra

Visit Taj Mahal* at sunrise. Late breakfast and post-breakfast optional lecture on the monuments of Agra. Visit to Agra Fort*. Evening shopping. Dinner at restaurant.

Day 05: Agra

Visit to Fathepur Sikri* - the abandoned great palace of Emperor Akbar, and Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary.

Day 06: Agra/Gwalior

Travel by train to Gwalior, the site of the ancient and majestic hill Fort containing some of the few unharmed Hindu buildings that survived the Muslim era as Man Singh's Palace. Overnight stay in hotel at Gwalior.

Day 07: Gwalior/Khajuraho

Drive to the high aesthetic temple town of Khajuraho. Also visit Rajput palace of Govind Mahal at Datia on the way.

Day 08: Khajuraho

Optional morning lecture on Hindu Temple Architecture. Visit to Khajuraho Temples* - exquisite sculptures. Enjoy rickshaw rides and walks through the rural lanes.

Day 09: Khajuraho/Orcha

Morning drive to Panna National Park (optional). After breakfast, leave for Orcha. Visit Rajput palaces and temples of late 16th and early 17th century.

Day 10: Orcha/ Bhopal Morning travel by train from Jhansi to Bhopal. Visit to Museum of Man, Jama Masjid in the late afternoon to see a few examples of contemporary architecture.

Day 11: Bhopal/Jalgaon

Morning optional lecture on Buddhist Architecture. Drive to Sanchi Stupa* and Buddhist caves at Vidisha by road. Overnight stay on train journey (Bhopal to Jalgaon).

Day 12: Jalgaon/Ajanta/Aurangabad

In the early morning, arrive to Jalgoan. Drive to Ajanta. Visit famous 6th century Buddhist excavations and frescoes of Ajanta Caves*. Leave for Aurangabad in the late afternoon.

Day 13: Aurangabad/Mumbai

In the morning, visit to Ellora Caves* (6th-7th century Buddhist caves). Visit Bibi-ka-Maqbara on the way. Leave for Mumbai by air in the late afternoon.

Day 14: Mumbai/departure

Transfer to International airport for journey towards home.
